KPV
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a synthetic tripeptide derived from the C-terminal region of α-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone (α-MSH) — a naturally occurring neuropeptide involved in immune regulation, anti-inflammatory signaling, and tissue repair.
In pre-clinical and in-vitro research, KPV has been shown to exhibit potent anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and epithelial barrier–protective properties. Its biological effects are primarily mediated through melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) and NF-κB signaling modulation, reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and promoting cellular homeostasis.
KPV’s simplicity, stability, and short-chain structure make it a valuable compound for dermatological, gastrointestinal, and immunological research — especially in models exploring inflammation suppression, oxidative stress, and mucosal integrity.

Anti-Inflammatory and Cytokine Modulation Research
- KPV is studied for its ability to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6, while enhancing anti-inflammatory IL-10 expression.
- Regulates the NF-κB and JAK/STAT signaling pathways, key mediators in cellular inflammation.
- Provides a model for examining peptide-based inflammatory control and immune regulation mechanisms.
Epithelial Barrier and Skin Integrity Studies
- Used to explore keratinocyte migration, wound closure, and epithelial regeneration.
- Promotes the study of skin barrier function, tight-junction integrity, and melanocortin signaling in epithelial systems.
- Frequently applied in research on psoriasis, dermatitis, and UV-induced oxidative damage models.
Gastrointestinal and Mucosal Healing Research
- Investigated for its protective effects on gut epithelium and mucosal barrier repair.
- Enables research into colitis, IBD, and peptide-mediated intestinal homeostasis.
- Supports the study of oxidative stress modulation and microbiome-associated inflammation.
Immune System Modulation Studies
- Provides a research model for immune tolerance regulation, macrophage polarization, and autoimmune signaling balance.
- Facilitates studies into MC1R receptor signaling and melanocortin immune pathways relevant to inflammatory and autoimmune mechanisms.
Wound Healing and Cellular Regeneration Research
- Demonstrated in vitro to support fibroblast proliferation, collagen production, and re-epithelialization.
- Used in pre-clinical models examining peptide-driven tissue regeneration and matrix remodeling under inflammatory stress.
Neuroendocrine and Stress Pathway Studies
